Watch as we start early in the morning wearing our REI Backpack Ponchos. We are headed to Grañon on Day 13. While passing through Cirueña some Billy Idol, “White Wedding” was jamming out a locals car and was quite funny. We stopped in Santo Domingo for a delicious “2nd Breakfast” and pressed on to Grañon. We had a great time helping with dinner preparation and meeting fellow pilgrims. While the main course simmered we all broke away and celebrated our the Corndogs first “Pilgrims Mass”. We returned to our donativo, San Juan Bautista Pilgrims Hostel for a fabulous meal and breaking bread with everyone. Day 14 was a later start as we needed some sleep. This section is one of our favorites and even while editing this video I was captured again by the scenery and have begun to get the bug to do the Camino for a 2nd time. We stopped in Villamayor del Rio for “2nd Breakfast”. We regretfully leave Viana after spending two nights. and get an early start so we can attempt to beat the rain forecasted later in the afternoon. The reward was a beautiful sunrise and we also had the trail all to ourselves before reaching Logroño. We reach the Bridge over the river Ebro and the water was perfectly calm. We peaked inside the Church of Santiago el Real and then set our sites on breakfast at Cafe La Tertulia which was superb! Next stop, Navarrete and we arrived with ponchos in our packs and checked in quickly at La Iglesia Hostel. Great stay and dinner downstairs. Chris explored the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary and feels that this was one of most beautiful ones on the Camino. Day 12 we leave Navarrete and head to Azofra. We decided to by-pass the variant to Ventosa as it was very early and didn’t expect to find any open cafes. This is one section that if you wanted to skip, I wouldn’t hold it against you. The cafe - Bar Naxara in Nájera helped restore our energy and attitude. With only 6.1km more to go we press on and land in the quiet little town of Azofra and find our 1st private room at Azofra Pilgrims Hostel. Once again we averted a disaster in the Ridley's Family Market parking lot in Pocatello, Idaho. A SUV cut completely across the entire lot and didn't bother to see us coming. Thankfully we weren't going fast and we braked in time to narrowly escape losing our home to the bodyshop. We've had our share of incidents caught on our dashcam but Pocatello has given us more than we'd like. After staying at one of our favorite hostels we started early for what was going to be a long and tough day for us. The journey had some fairly aggressive inclines but the beginning treated us to the infamous wine wall. Just a short sip of wine and we were on our way to Los Arcos. Had a great evening meeting some new pilgrims and great conversations. The next morning didn't start as early as planned but we had our sights set on Viana and enjoyed the beautiful countryside along the way. We avoided getting rained on again and were so thankful for the weather. Viana blew us away with the charm and very cordial locals. A day of rest did wonders for our bodies. We started early out of Pamplona as we had some distance to cover. Pamplona has some great produce so we loaded up on our rest day and grabbed delicious oranges and bananas to snack on the trail. The day was full of beautiful scenery and flowers.
