We loved León but had to leave. The hike was broken up nicely with small towns and cafes. It was great seeing pilgrims we met earlier on the Camino and sharing stories. Day 27 ends at Villadangos del Páramo with our favorite albergue so far. Day 28 was a very gentle hike with several stops along the way. It's so funny how we keep hearing the same music Playlist in all the cafes. This was a longer hike and we thought we would stop one town earlier but after checking out the room available we decided to take a short cab ride to Astorga. Another early start as we have over 30km to hike to get to Reliegos. We go through a section that we feared that we might pick up a tick. We treated our sleeping liner, backpack, pants, sock and shoes with Permethrin a few days before we left. So far up to this point we haven't had any issues. The sunrise was spectacular and was a nice break from the rain but after 2nd breakfast we start to get rain again. Chris develops to fairly large blister and she switches over to hiking in her Teva sandals. We start day 25 with a short hike to Mansilla de Las Mulas and catch a bus to León. After a quick breakfast we find our stay for two nights and continue exploring the city. Since the weather has been chilly we decided to visit the Decathlon store and grabbed some deals. We get another early start out of Villalcázar de Sirga before sunrise and reach our first town for an early 1st breakfast and with ponchos on we cross the 400km mark. We landed in Calzadilla de la Cueza where sadly we witnessed an alburgue host being inappropriate with another young female pilgrim. This shocked us as we've had nothing but great encounters all along our hike. After an early meal we crashed as we had put in over 23km. The town had a small grocery store that was a little pricey but we grabbed a few bananas and oranges for our next day's hike to Sahagún. The hike for the day had a fairly flat grade and was broken up nicely with 4 towns in between to take short stops. It was another poncho day but the rain was light and kept tempting us to put our gear up. We were excited to cross the Midpoint of the Camino de Santiago. This is halfway between Rocesvalles and Compostela. We arrived at in Sahagún and picked up a few items at the pharmacia and then checked in at Santa Cruz Pilgrims Hostel which is now ran by The Marist Fathers. They offer a 5pm Coffee Meet & Greet and then Mass at 6:30pm and celebration at 7pm. We get another early start leaving Castrojeriz with the goal of arriving Fromista but our plans shifted and instead we stopped in Boadilla del Camino. We were rewarded with our early start to having some great views from the top of Mostelares Pass. After a great communal meal with fellow pilgrims we explored the little town. Day 21 starts early as most of the hike today is wide open with little to no shade. After a nice rest day in Burgos we start our morning early again with Hornillos del Camino as our goal for the day. We were able to get a reservation at Hornillos Meeting Point and had a delicious communal meal featuring Paella. Our next day is broken into easy gaps between towns and we were treated to some cafe con leche's and Pain au chocolat along the way. When we first started watching videos to learn about the Camino it seemed that once the videos reached Pamplona or Burgos either we lost interest or creators did. I'm enjoying editing these as it's helping me remember different sections that I totally forgot about. The daily grind of hiking, eating, sleeping, and packing/unpacking becomes monotonous. My hope is that if you're using these videos to pick up just a tip or two you'll find something and if your watching for entertainment I will do my best to stay on point. Come with us as we adventure from Belorado on a really long day for us headed to Agés. Just when we thought we had a place for the night it turned out there was no room in the inn. Ray pushed ahead to secure us a spot. It turned out that the location wasn't the best. Day 16 we push on with our sights set on Burgos. We took the variant which took us along the river and was a bit more scenic than the other options. Several bridge crossings and plenty of pets to love on during our walk into the city. After a quick bite to eat we explored at bit before we slept for the night. Day 17 was a rest day in Burgos and we met up with friends for breakfast and then toured the Cathedral and attended mass.
